RACE 1
From
an interesting start line off the pontoon, the Phantom of Paul Lester
took an early lead in the 21 boat fleet and kept it comfortably to
first place. The 'on the water" battle for second between Lark, Blaze
and the second Phantom was resolved on handicap in favour of Chris
& Ann Biglin (Lark), only to find that the Solo of Stuart Hydon was
actually a clear minute ahead of them all. The Biglins were therefore
third, with Roger Hopper putting his Solo into fourth and the Blaze of
Martin Saveker fifth.
RACE 2 13th May
With Paul Lester stuck on the M6,
this week it was the turn of Jim Hopton to do a 'horizon job' in a
Phantom. On the biggest triangle course that is possible on
Shustoke, the 27 boat fleet was lead away by Jim, Pete
Isherwood & Kevin Lynch in Phantoms, followed by the Solos of Stuart
Hydon and Nigel Wilkins and the Padro Lark (Adrian's boat, Darren driving and
Ryan on kite). A spinnaker leg the length of the Lake suited the Larks
and after 4 laps Chris & Ann Biglin & the Padros followed the two
leading Phantoms over the line. Stuart Hydon had however done his usual
job with his Solo and finished on the water with the Larks to take an easy win
on handicap, and Roger Hopper wasn't far behind to take third behind Jim's
Phantom.
Race 3 20th May -
The third Thursday evening race was rather more
leisurely that the first two with some boats only completing one of the
small laps. Stuart Hydon again put his Solo into first place, finishing
only seconds behind the Phantom of Paul Lester who was relegated to
second on handicap. The fastest craft on the water was the Sea Cadets 6
man pulling boat.
