Are you thinking of joining a Sailing Club?
Do you want to learn to sail?

New Members Open Day
Saturday August 21st 2010
Shustoke Sailing Club is opening its gates to ANYBODY who wants to come along and have a bash at sailing on Saturday 21 August from 11 o’clock onwards.
What’s more it’s free, just bring some splash proof clothing, old trainers/soft shoes you don’t mind getting wet and a ‘have a go’ attitude.
Some of our most experienced sailors and qualified RYA instructors will be waiting to take you out for a spin in one of our modern training dinghies and answer any questions you may have about sailing or learning to sail at Shustoke Sailing Club
Age is not a barrier to this sport – we have training boats to suit most people and for juniors we also have our Shustoke Sharks Club. Find the tab on the left for more information.
You can also follow the directory on the left to find out where we are, what type of boats the club allows and the training courses being planned for this year and much more.

About Shustoke Sailing Clubs RYA Recognised Training Centre

Shustoke Sailing Club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre and operators within the guidelines set out by the RYA for standards of equipment and tuition. We have 6 Senior Dinghy Instructors, 11 Dinghy Instructors plus Assistant and Powerboat Instructors.
We enjoy an enviable reputation for training within the West Midlands and have keen and dedicated staff of volunteer instructors plus modern equipment provided by the club.
We use GP14's, and Comet Trios, both two-man boats, for adult training and Topper and Optimist single-handed boats for junior training.
Shustoke Sailing Club is not a commercial centre and training is provided for club
members only. At the end of a course students are allowed to use selected boats for up to 6 weeks while they decide which type of boat is right for them and during this time they are encouraged to find a suitable boat of their own.
Sailing is organised into different fleets each with its own fleet captain. Regular tutorials are given by our experienced sailors on the finer points of sailing boat in their class. If you would like to know more about a particular class you can find out who the Fleet Captains are by clicking on the tab “Meet Club Officer” and then discuss your requirements with them.
Club membership requires all adults to take part in the running of club racing by attending duty days. Initially these will be assisting the Officer of the day (O.O.D) or 2nd person on our rescue boats. All adults are encouraged to attend our free Powerboat training course specifically designed to enable club members to fulfil their duty obligations.
