Ropework, Deck work and Sail Setting 2024

To support each other in skills development, we are all at different places in our capability, the emphasis will be on trying and making mistakes, but only small ones of course !!!

Fri-Sat weekend giving 14 hrs time on the water repeating activities several times with people carrying out different roles on each repeat of activity.

The roles would be:

• Helm and/or Person In Charge (PIC)
• Main Sail trimmer
• Jib Sail trimmer
• Pit/Coach roof controls
• Observer

As an indication of the activities we will carry out:

• Raise/set the sails
• Drop/furl the sails
• Raise/set sails with a reef in
• Shake out the reef under sail
• Put in a reef under sail
• Drop/furl the sails with a reef in

Assessing the impact of sail control on performance whist sailing all points of sailing :

Main Sheet

• Halyard tension
• Outhaul
• Vang
• Backstay tension (if available)
• Traveller

Jib Sheet

• Halyard tension
• Car position
• Backstay tension (if available)
