2023 Sunsail Series Race Reports

Round #4 - 15/16 July 2023

Report:

We experienced strong winds all weekend and no racing was held.

On Saturday we departed Port Solent and Portsmouth to experience an increasing wind from the SW that peaked at about 40-42 knots. With 3 reefs in the main and a snitch of headsail out we scooted across from Spit fort to Cowes at speeds of over 8 konts ! We were moored up in Shepard's Marina by about 1330 !!

The forecast for Sunday was meant to abate some, but once we go out into the East Solent we were seeing gusts of over 30 knots. We moored up in the lee of Osborne Bay for lunch and finaly made our way back to Port Solent. Entering the lock and berthing in the marina at Port Solent was 'interesting' - well done Mark !

The Shustoke Offshore Racing Section crew comprised Tony D, Ethan H, Jane SD, Helen J, Jonathan O, Seph O, Mark B, Geoff J, and during the course of the weekend we did some great helming and heavy wind crewing work... Well done All !!
